Supporting you through the conception journey
Making a decision to have a baby can be an exciting time. For some, conception seems to happen naturally and quickly. For others it can be a more complicated process.
There is evidence to suggest that stress can affect conception levels. Cortisol, a hormone released in response to stress, can reduce the production of other hormones that are integral to the release of the egg and the implantation of embryo after fertilisation.
Reflexology can help with naturally reducing stress levels as well as improving and maintaining general wellbeing. It is safe to have reflexology before you start trying for a baby, whilst trying to conceive, or during medical tests or treatments. Reflexology treatments, can be for both partners and will encourage deep relaxation, improve sleep patterns and reduce stress.
Supporting you through pregnancy
Pregnancy and childbirth is a very special time, it can bring happiness and joy. For women, it also brings much physical and emotional change. Reflexology during pregnancy can offer many benefits such as:
There is growing research to show that reflexology in pregnancy significantly reduces pain during labour, including low back and pelvic girdle pain, it has a positive effect in lowering total anxiety during labour and it improves quality of sleep in post-natal women.
Reflexology can be used throughout pregnancy to aid relaxation, reduce stress and support you with physical symptoms and general wellbeing.
I undertook my maternity training in October 2019 and completed further studies in the area of conception in January 2020. Courses were provided by Sally Earlam, Head of Training and Education for the Association of Reflexologists. For more information visit www.aor.org.uk.
